What: 12th National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of a Generation: March and Rally. Event will include hundreds of people dressed in black, as well as the Stolen Lives Walls - a 100-foot long collection of 6 foot high black walls that list thousands of names of people killed by law enforcement.
Thousands across the country –including New York, LA, Chicago and Oakland and 20 other cities will act to STOP Police brutality, repression and the way that youth are treated like criminals.
On October 22nd, puts a spotlight on the NATIONAL epidemic of police brutality. Families that, like Gary King Jr's family, have lost loved ones at the hands of the police, as well as youth, immigrants, teachers, churches, community groups, civil liberty organization,s and many others will come together to say, "STOP police violence, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation."
The Stolen Lives Project details the over 3,000 cases of people who have been killed by law enforcement since 1990 - information that no other organization within the United States has documented. Meanwhile, immigration police continue to terrorize immigrant communities by raiding jobs and homes and separating husbands from wives, and parents from children. We will be wearing black on October 22nd in memory of those whose lives have been stolen from us.
